The MEXT Promotion of Development of a Joint Usage/ Research System Project: Coalition of Universities for Research Excellence Program (CURE) “Multi-scale Quantum–Classical Life Interface Research Consortium” is coordinated with the Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP) at the University of Tokyo serving as the hub institution, in collaboration with the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules (ITbM) at Nagoya University, the OptoBioTechnology Research Center (OBtRC) at Nagoya Institute of Technology, and the Exploratory Research Center on Life and Living Systems (ExCELLS) at National Institutes of Natural Sciences. The consortium aims to establish a new interdisciplinary field that bridges quantum processes involving proteins related to light, such as photoreceptor, fluorescent/bioluminescent proteins, with macroscale molecular functional processes from the perspectives of physics, biology, and chemistry. Additionally, we will pursue the development of next-generation molecular tools for medical and industrial applications, building upon established scientific principles.
